EVOSS

EVOSS is an initiative co-funded by the EIT UM which aims to improve the availability and efficiency of electric vehicle charging on demand in parking lots.

The current charging infrastructure encounters major difficulties in incorporating more fixed charging stations, as it is neither flexible nor optimized, as charged vehicles can occupy a charging car park for hours at a time.

Moreover, its high deployment costs may pose a significant challenge for charging the future EV fleet in urban areas.

To address these issues, EVOSS proposes a Robotic Charging Device (RCD) equipped with a high-capacity battery and one rapid DC charging plug that can provide flexible electric vehicle charging inside parking’s by travelling to the precise location where the EV is parked. This system proposes remarkable adaptability by seamlessly navigating through parking areas, identifying parked EVs, and initiating the charging process. With minimal human intervention required, users are relieved from the inconvenience of searching for available parking spots after completing their charging sessions.

Furthermore, EVOSS efficiently addresses the pervasive logistical issues caused by occupied charging stations, even in situations where the parked EV may already be fully charged.
